Biography of Imam Ibn Kathir

Imam Ibn Kathir was a great scholar as well as a historian very mahsyur. His full name is Imad Abu al-Fida Ismail ibn Kathir al-Quraishi al-Bashriy ad-Dimasqiy.

He was born in the city of Basra in 701 AH / 1301 AD since childhood he has been orphaned, but nevertheless eager to learn is never extinguished. Craze started studying when he was little. he studied religious sciences and history of some teachers who are very well known in his day, such as: Kamaluddin Abdul Wahab, Ibn as-Syuhnah, al-'Amdi, Ibn Asakir and others.
Among the many teachers, she has the most widely studied with al-Mazyi. He had studied the book Rijalul Hadith by reading the book Tahdheeb al-Kamal before the teacher to complete. He also spent more time to learn to Imam Ibn Taymiyyah, so many fiqh affects his thinking, especially on the issue of Chapter Thalaq.
Imam Ibn Kathir is known by teachers as an intelligent student and has a good memory, so it is not surprising that as an adult he became a great scholar who is expert in the field of Hadith, Tafsir and History.

Ibn Kathir also an ulama figure productive in generating some quality books and become a reference community . among his works are :
1. treatise Kitab al - jihad ;
2. Kitab al - Bidayah wa - fi Nihayah dates ;
3. Thabaqat Kitab al - fuqaha as- Shafi'i ;
4. Kitab al - Ba'its ila al - hatsits Ma'rifat ' Ulumul Hadith ;
5. al - Fushul fi Ikhtsar Sirah ar- Rasul ;
6. Fadha'il Koran dates Jam'ihi wa wa wa kitabathi Lughathi ;
7. Nihayah al - Bidayah wa an- Nihayah ( Tatimmah Date ) ;

In the field of interpretation , he authored the book < i> Tafsir al -Qur'an al - 'Azhim < / i> which is better known as the < i> Tafsir Ibn Kathir < / i> .

Imam Ibn Kathir died in the year 774 AH / 1372 AD may Allah have mercy on him constantly . Ameen .
