Imam al-Baghawi born in the village Baghsyur also called Bagh, a small village located between the fertile and Marwarrudz Herat. From this village is pretty much born great scholars.
Imam al-Baghawi Jumadil Ula was born in the year 433 H (according to history Yaqut ibn Abdullah al-Hamawiy in Mu'jam al-Buldan) while according to Ayaziy Ali, Imam al-Baghawi born in the year 438 H without mentioning the month.
His full name is Abu Muhammad al-Husain ibn Mas'ud ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi as-Shafi'i.
As for his name given by his parents was al-Husayn, and after he became leader, he was known as Abu Muhammad al-Husain ibn Mas'ud ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi along with a number of titles which show that he is a person who 'alim, as al-Imam al-Hafiz, Shaykh al-Islam, al-Allama.
Imam al-Baghawi a cleric who called on ummah persistent enough to stick fast to the Qur'an and Sunnah in any case, he got laqab as Rukn ad-Din , also dubbed Muhyi Sunnah , this is because Imam al-Baghawi confessed that after they finish writing the book Sharh as-Sunnah he dreamed encountered by the Prophet and said: "Ahyayta sunnati bi Syarh ahaditsiy".

The death of the Imam.
on the anniversary of the death of Imam al - Baghawi there are differences of opinion among the experts . some argue that Imam al - Baghawi died in the month of Shawwal 516 AH / December 1122 M ( in the opinion of Yaqut al - Hamawiy in the book Mu'jam al - Buldan , Ali Ayazi in Mufassirun and Umar al - Ridha Kahhalah in Mu'jam al - Muallifin ) .
While others mentioned that Imam al - Baghawi died in the month of Shawwal 510 AH / February 1117 M , ( in the opinion of Muhammad Husain adh- Dhahabi in at- Tafsir wa al - Mufassirun ) .
there is even a mention in 551 H.
Regarding the place died , historians meyebutkan commentators agree that Imam al - Baghawi Marwarrudz died and was buried beside the grave of his master al - Husayn Qadhiy in the cemetery of al - Thaliqaniy , Marwarrudz.
